161 I Invited Him Over for Dinner

As summer vacation had ended, Zhang Yi Hai and the triplets had gone back to their university and were no longer working part-time at the hotel.

Although Zhang Li Xue was happy that her brother was no longer around to drive her crazy, she could not help but feel bored without him around.

Zhang Li Xue was focusing on the documents on the computer screen when the phone beside her buzzed. She reached for her phone without looking up and tapped her finger on the screen.

She glanced at her phone and saw that it was a text message from her aunt.

“Li Xue, are you free after work?”

A smile turned up on her lips. Zhang Li Xue held her phone with both hands and texted back. “I should be. Younger Aunt, what’s up?”

“Come over to my place and have dinner together. I’ll make your favorite chicken wings.”

Zhang Li Xue giggled. She figured that her aunt should be bored after the triplets left for university. “Alright. I’ll come by after work. Young Aunt, do you need anything? I can get them on my way there.”

“It’s fine. Just show up for dinner. That should be enough.”

.....

Zhang Li Xue exited the chat and texted her mother that she would be going to her aunt’s place for dinner.

After work ended, Zhang Li Xue clocked out and stopped by the hotel’s coffee shop to buy her aunt’s favorite cake. Then, she drive over to Wei’s residence which was not far away from her late great-grandfather’s place.

She pressed the doorbell and an auntie who was working at the house opened the door for her.

Her aunt’s voice could be heard as she approached the dining room. As she walked in, Zhang Li Xue noticed that her aunt was not alone.

Chatting with her aunt was a young man.

However, the more that Zhang Li Xue looked at the person’s back, the more that she found that he looked a little familiar.

“Li Xue, you’re here.” Zhang Yu Ying was facing the entrance and noticed her niece’s appearance.

Just then, the man turned around as well.

Their gazes met.

Zhang Li Xue’s eyes widened upon seeing a familiar face appearing in her aunt’s dining room. “Bai Qi... Why are you here?”

Bai Qi watched Zhang Li Xue’s surprised look and smiled.

“I ran into him at the hospital,” Zhang Yu Ying explained before Bai Qi could say a word. “I was surprised to find out that Bai Qi still remembered me. We chatted briefly and I invited him over for dinner.”

Zhang Li Xue turned to her aunt and raised a brow.

Her instinct was telling her that her aunt was not telling her the truth. There was no way that her aunt would coincidentally run into Bai Qi during her visit to the hospital.

Zhang Yu Ying seemed to understand her niece’s thoughts. She cleared her throat and quickly find a way to change the subject. Her gaze fell on the box of pastry in her niece’s hand and her lips turned up into a smile.

“Li Xue, is that the pastry from the hotel?” Zhang Yu Ying walked over and took the box from her. “You know well that I also like these cakes. Thank you.”

Zhang Li Xue was unable to say a word as she watched her aunt take the box of cake away from her.

“Alright, I should go back to the kitchen,” Zhang Yu Ying said. She gave her niece a look as she patted her on the shoulder. “Li Xue, help me to look after my guest, alright?” She turned to Bai Qi and spoke, “Bai Qi, sit down for a while. The two of you should sit down and catch up. The meal would be ready soon.”

Zhang Li Xue watched as her aunt retreated to the kitchen. It took her a few seconds to snap out of her trance. She turned to Bai Qi and saw that he was still looking at her.

Taking a deep breath, Zhang Li Xue walked over to Bai Qi’s side and sit down. “I did not expect to run into you here.”

“Mmm...” Bai Qi rubbed his neck as he let out a nervous laugh. “I wasn’t expecting to visit your aunt’s place either.” Talking to Zhang Li Xue’s aunt made him anxious. Fortunately, his little fairy was around. He could not imagine having dinner with her aunt alone.

Zhang Li Xue heaved a faint sigh. “I’m sorry. I talked to my aunt about you and what happened to your family the other day,” Zhang Li Xue admitted. “My aunt probably went over to the hospital to find you.”

“It’s fine.” Bai Qi clearly would not mind. In fact, it was because of her aunt that he could have a more peaceful life at the hospital after this.

Zhang Li Xue lowered her head and muttered. “I was worried that you might be angry.”

The look on her face was too adorable. Bai Qi had the urge to pinch her on both cheeks. Fortunately, he still has his self conscious.

“Your aunt is a good person,” Bai Qi commented.

Zhang Li Xue looked up again and smiled. “She is.”

The two of them chatted for a while. Then, Bai Qi seemed to remember something about his mentor. He hesitated for a few seconds before he opened his mouth, “I have a question for you.”

“Un. Go ahead.”

“Your uncle... Qi Zheng. What is his background?” Bai Qi saw the way Zhang Li Xue was staring at him and decided to explain, “Just that... something happened at the hospital. Later, I heard that a few people were saying that Doctor Qi is someone with an impressive background.”

After what happened to the Xiao father and daughter, Bai Qi overheard a few people discussing his mentor. It was said that the president of the hospital would have to be polite when he was with his mentor.

As it has been a long time since he returned to Y City, Bai Qi did not know anything about the prominent family in the city.

“Uncle Qi Zheng?” Zhang Li Xue tilted her head sideways. “Mmm... I guess you could say that he is someone with an impressive background. The Qi family is a military family in Y City. Uncle Qi Zheng’s cousin, Uncle Qi Ming Wei is now a major general.”

Bai Qi’s lips parted. He had never thought that his mentor would have such a background. That was the reason why he was not afraid of Director Xiao.
