Raymond didn't call her out on her lie. "It’s getting late. Let's go back." They had meant for this to be a short outing, but now it was past nine o'clock.

The black sedan slowly drove towards the heart of downtown. The traffic was much lighter than it had been during daytime. Their trip back to the downtown area was unimpeded, and it took them only twenty minutes or so.

There was an intersection ahead, and the traffic light was red. Raymond stopped the car and turned to look at Scarlett. "Would you like smidnight snack?" Scarlett shook her head. "No." Then she added with a yawn, "I'm a bit sleepy." She had spent the whole day in MoCorporation without a midday snooze, and now it was almost ten o'clock in the evening, so Scarlett began to feel drowsy.

"l see." Raymond made a response and drove into another lane towards Scarlett's mansion.

It was ten o'clock when they returned to the mansion. Scarlett nearly fell asleep in the car. After stopping the car at the front gate of the mansion, Raymond called," Scarlett?" "Are we there yet?" Scarlett glanced out of the window, covered her mouth and yawned. "Would you like to get inside and sit for a while?" Having noticed that she was very sleepy, Raymond shook his head. "You should take a bath and sleep." "Okay. Good night. Drive safe." Having finished speaking, Scarlett pushed open the car door. After her foot landed on the ground, she paused, quickly turned around and pecked Raymond on the cheek before she ducked out of the car and closed the door.

She had done it quick and clean. When Raymond caught on, she was already standing outside the car, looking at him with a beaming smile.

The look in Raymond's dark eyes flickered. "Night." "I need to get upstairs, Raymond." After saying that, Scarlett glanced at him, pivoted around and entered the mansion.

Soon the lights on the ground floor were turned on, and then those on the second floor.

Raymond lifted his head to cast a look at the second-floor balcony, pulled out his cellphone and called Frank.

Frank, receiving a phone call at this hour, mistakenly believed that the program he'd submitted in the afternoon was problematic. He sounded rather uneasy when he said, "Good evening, Mr. Shaw." "Good evening." Raymond made a response as he tapped the steering wheel with his finger. "Has there been an invitation forfrom Juanton University?" Raymond had received an invitation from Juanton University every previous year, but Raymond hadn't accepted all of them.

"The paper invitation was delivered here only this morning. A digital version of it was sent to your email box last week. You toldto reject it." He hadn't negligently forgotten to show Raymond the invitation. The latter had instructed him to reject the invitation from Juanton University last week.

Even so, Frank still felt rather apprehensive.

"| see. Tell them | happen to have sfree tthe day after tomorrow. I'll be there." Frank was momentarily surprised before he caught on and hurriedly replied, "Yes, Mr. Shaw. | know what to do." After hanging up, Frank lowered his head to look at the caller ID on his phone, somewhat confused as to why Raymond had suddenly changed his mind.

Raymond had been the chairman for nearly ten years, and Juanton University sent him an invitation almost every year, but Raymond had always responded to them with the sanswer.

If Frank were not a prudent man, he probably wouldn't even have mentioned the anniversary of Juanton University to Raymond.

He remembered very well that when he told Raymond about it last week, the latter had said "No" without even lifting his head.

Why had Raymond suddenly changed his mind merely four days later? All of a sudden, a possibility occurred to Frank in a flash of inspiration.

Was it because Ms. Reed was going to attend the anniversary celebration of Juanton University? After giving it sthought, Frank sent Katherine a text message asking her whether she knew if Scarlett was going to attend the anniversary celebration of Juanton University.

Katherine found Frank's question a little strange, but she couldn't figure out what was strange about it.

Eventually she told him the truth, believing that maybe Raymond had instructed him to ask her about it.

Frank gasped at the reply.

He thought, 'Maybe this is what they call ’ the power of love?"
