Sighing heavily, Alex said, "I anticipated your skepticism, which is why I came prepared."

As he spoke, Alex's finger glowed.

He gently tapped Oliver's forehead with the glowing finger.

As a result, images flashed before Oliver's eyes, accompanied by voices, and as the revelations unfolded, his face drained of color, and sadness filled his eyes.

He had just seen the recording of his brother and cousin plotting his dead. They wanted to assasinate him in the lesser dimension. It was full of danger. So if he died there, no one would be able to verify that he was assassinated.

"Does father know about this?" Oliver asked in a voice thick with emotion.

"I don't know," Alex replied.

However, it was a widely accepted truth that nothing escaped the notice of the Thunder Lord. He should be aware of the planned assassination since it concerned one of his son's life, yet he hadn't interfered. It showed he didn't care about Oliver's life and death.

"Father is too cruel," Oliver muttered with a self-mocking laugh. "I'm his own son, and yet he doesn't show a shred of sympathy for me."

Alex reached out and placed a comforting hand on Oliver's shoulder. "Don't jump to conclusions. Things might not be as straightforward as they seem."

"You don't need to lie to make me feel better," Oliver said. As he spoke, a trace of bitterness was vivid in his eyes. Fate was simply unfair to him. He was born into a family where everyone was obsessed with strength. They shunned him for merely not having the same capability as them. While they could be both wizards and bloodline users, he could only be a wizard, and he was not talented at that either.

Just for that, they treated him like a waste of space.

His second brother was even worse. Oliver hadn't done anything wrong, but he wanted him dead.

Alex didn't bother arguing with him. He didn't come here to bicker with Oliver. He was here to change his mind. He wanted to stop him from going outside the frontier.

"They won't touch you in the Northern Frontier, which shows they are afraid of breaking the rules of our tribe. They'd only dare to assassinate you in a place where they can pin the blame on something else if they're questioned. But you can easily foil their plan by sitting this one out."

"Cousin, I'm no longer the boy who used to be afraid of his bullies. They want to kill me? They're welcome anytime. I won't give up on once-in-a-lifetime opportunities just because of threats," Oliver shot back defiantly.

Alex wanted him to hide and act like a coward, but Oliver was unwilling.

When he was a child, he had no backing. He could only endure humiliation and unfair treatment with gritted teeth.

But now he was a full-grown adult with one of the kingdom's most finest figures backing him, providing him support.

He no longer needed to submit to the demand of the strong.

If something happened to him, his master would surely investigate. He would kill everyone involved in his death.

Actually, Oliver wished he would fall victim to Leon's insidious plot and die. At least then, he would get the two who tormented him the most killed.

'I can ask for nothing better in exchange for my life,' he thought.

Leon and Clea had a bright future in front of them. They had underestimated Oliver's value in Lucious's heart, thinking that no one would treat a trash with sincerity. They didn't know killing him would unleah a calmity that would result in their certsin death even in the Lord of Thunder intervened. Oliver thought that exchanging his life for theirs was well-worth it.

Alex felt a surge of anger upon hearing Oliver's words. He grabbed Oliver's collar and shouted, "This concerns your fucking life, and I can't be there to protect your sorry ass. Think about it carefully and for god's sake, just back down for once."

Oliver glared back.

"Let. Go," he coldly said.

"Not until you give me the answer I want to hear," Alex growled.

"You're no better than them. You're all bullies that abuse their strength to get what they want," Oliver spat out.

Alex's face turned a shade darker, "You think I'm like them? Do you have any idea how much trouble I went through for this?"

"Was it really for me?" Oliver smirked, "Aren't you here to gloat my own family want to kill me, and I can't do anything about it. Now that I think of it, weren't you among those who bullied me when I was but a child? I think you'd probably be secretly relieved if I were gone."

Each of his words were like sharp knives stabbing Alex where it hurt the most.

True, he had made a mistake in the past.

But at that time he didn't know any better.

He followed the crowd and made fun of Oliver.

Everyone was doing it every single day.

When they encouraged him, to not be the odd one out, he also did it, but he immediately regretted it afterward and had been sincerely trying to make up to him ever since.

But now his feeling were taken for a joke.

Oliver literally stomped on them!

"You...!" Alex seethed. "You seriously know how to step on my nerves."

Before the situation could escalate further, Val intervened. He grabbed Alex's hand, effortlessly pushing it down and freeing Oliver from his grip. Alex's eyes widened in surprise at Val's strength.

"Stop it. We shouldn't be fighting among ourselves," he said, breaking the fight between two kids like a mature and responsible adult.

"You're siding with him?" Alex and Oliver asked Val, their tone dripping with resentment.

Val shook his head, "I just think you both need some time apart to calm down."

"I would be glad if this annoying guy goes away," Oliver said. "But I don't know if he is willing."

Alex huffed, "I don't care if you die. Do whatever you like," before storming off to god knows where.

After a while, Oliver looked down, visibly distressed.

"Damn, I didn't mean to hurt him." he whispered, regret evident in his voice, "Why do I always push away people who care about me?"

'Because boy you're suffering from some serious trust and anger management issues,' Val thought internally.

Outwardly, he tried to console his 'friend.' He placed a reassuring hand on Oliver's shoulder and said, "Don't dwell on these things. Focus on the task at hand. You want to take a stance against them, right? I will support you. No matter what you choose, I'll help you."

"Even against a guy like Clea?" Oliver asked.

Val smiled confidently, "You've seen what I can do. If he comes to assassinate you, he might not win. We just need to ensure we stick together when we are in the dimension."

In Val's mind, having Oliver by his side would also be beneficial in his quest to conquer the dimension.

Oliver managed a weak smile, "I'll take you up on that offer. Just don't betray me."

"Rest assured. I won't," Val said.

As long as the benefit outwighted the loss, he won't let him be harmed.
